Possible hiv exposure

Hi

I recently visited a female sex worker here in London (she was from colombia, but i dont think that is relevant). I did not engage in intercourse with her but watched her perform masturbation. At the end, she wiped her crotch area with some wet wipes/baby wipes to remove vaginal fluids. By mistake she dropped these wipes on my suede sneaker after she had used them. She removed them and i could not see whether there were any clear fluid wet marks on the shoe. I then walked home, taking about 5 mins. I then unlaced the shoe, potentially coming into indirect contact with any fluids on the shoe. I have a hangnail/torn cuticle on the hand that touched the shoe, meaning it is possible that the fluids touched the skin tear. The skin abrasion was not bleeding and did not sting when i applied some surgical spirits to it. My question is twofold

After the 5 minute time elapsed, would the fluid on the shoe have been infectious for hiv if and when it touced the hangnail (related q: would the wetwipe kill hiv?)

Secondly, i have very mild atheletes foot on the foot (between the toes) wearing the shoe that touched the wetwipe. Is it at all possible that the fluid might have come into contact with the athletes foot and thereby resulted in an hiv infection?

Thanks in advance, i realise this is probably an unusual query, but i hope one of the experts here might be prepared to semd me a response

You NEVER had a risk. Any vaginal fluids that may have gotten on your shoes had been exposed to air and temperature changes which would render the virus inactive. (Unable to infect) Your hangnail and athletes foot is NOT a concern.
Besides, this is NOT how HIV is transmitted. I would strongly urge you to educate yourself about HIV........it would save you a great deal of needless anxiety.
YOU DID NOT CONTRACT HIV

Thanks for your answer, as you can tell I am being a bit paranoid. One follow-on question, is there any rsource out there which describes how quickly hiv becomes uninfectious when outside the body?

While your question is a good one, it is really outside the scope of this forum to outline ALL the variables one would need to consider to answer this question with any authority. In other words, there is no ONE definitive answer. But going back to YOUR particular experience with the shoelaces.........I have already given you a definitive answer to that. As you said yourself, you ARE getting paranoid and I sincerely think your time would be better used in educating yourself about HIV prevention and safe sex. To answer your question about resources on this subject, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of studies available online from major universities and publications like JAMA and The Lancet, to name just the top two. I wish you the best on your research.
