Thanks Teak. I will trust your information. Stay well.
Has nothing to do with a rapid test being done at the correct time as per the manufactures guidelines. 3 months post exposure is conclusive even for rapid tests.
Thank you, Memphis156! It´s all there!
People here do not understand that I WANT to keep trusting rapid tests! I really do! I am just confused after reading the link you have posted (
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV-Prevention/Accuracy-of-rapid-tests/show/1316320).
dont know where you read that..
but rapid tests are reliable with a very high sensitivity and specificity....
if you wana take a rapid test, we will def say carry on as it is highly reliable
I am sorry but yes, Doctor HH... said "if you want to be sure you should get a lab based ELISA, not a rapid test" OR "rapid tests should be used if you do not have any other possibility". Read it because that has confused everyone. If that is true, what can we do besides accepting the news?
They didn't say that at all. A rapid test at 3 months post exposure is conclusive and very reliable.

The vast majority of the countries worldwide uses HIV Rapid Tests which seek for antibodies only. Millions of people have been tested for HIV by these rapid tests. What about doctor's statement here in Medhelp (rapid tests are not so reliable and should not be used for diagnosis itiself)? What´s your view on that all?
A rapid test that can test for both antigens and antibodies at the same time.
