Freaking out
I recently had unprotected sex 25 days ago. It was a late Friday night/Early Saturday morning and by Sunday night, I was expericing burning while I urinated and tingling the rest of the time in my penis. I went the following day and I got an STD check that came back negative, but my symptoms were still there. The doctor then thought I might have a yeast infection, which he gave me diflcuan for and it worked for a about a week. I went back yesterday and he gave me doxycycline. I am very worried I might have HIV. He sent me too get a blood test for HIV (24 days later after unprotected sex). I have an ear ache and my tonsils or throat is sore but yesterday the doctor said my lymph nodes werent swollen. I've been very upset about all this the past couple of days. Am I just worry my self sick, as I have thrown up due to the stress or what? I should get my test back by tommorow or Friday. Is an earache and swolen neck/ throat causes of acute retroviral syndrome? I am very worried and think I seriously messed up my life. What do you think?
I had the same feeling but never had sex. A stripper touched my scotum probably with vaginal fluid on her hands. Doc gave me Diflucan and it helped but never fully went away. Have throat problems to. I got tested at 8 weeks and it was negative. I still have irritation on the tip of my penis and my throat feels swelled. I get dry throat at night to. People say this can't be HIV. I drank a lot of beer and Redbull vodka those nights and think I may have a yeast overgrowth? Not sure what to do? I also took ammoxicillian which they say can help in a yeast overgrowth. Anyonegot some answers?
It not sound like ARS, just test again in a few weeks and again at 3 motnhs for conclusive
I couldn't stop worrying and went got a rapid HIV test today at the local health dept. It came back negative which is a good thing but still it was only after 25 days now. What about my swollen throat, could that be a sympton of ARS or am I just overworrying. Also I heard you cant test positive while you are having ARS. What do you think?
If you had vaginal sex the risk per one unprotected exposure is 1/2000, with a confirmed hiv positive partner since you dont now the status of your partner the risk would be even lower, so try to stay calm, symptoms are useless and meaningless, so dont worry about them, at 24 days your test would be around 65% accurate, test at 6 weeks for a 95% accurate result and then at 3 months for a conclusive result.

I think you are over reacting. The chance you picked up HIV from that one exposure is extremely low, like getting hit by lightning. HIV also is never diagnosed by symptoms.
24 days is too earlry of a test as well, the easy way to quickly solve this is to have your partner go test asap, if he/she is negative then you couldnt have contracted hiv.
