Well, I've only been in Medical School since last fall, but I began my undergrad in 2010. But I've known what I wanted to do for a long time, so I was already pretty informed on the topics of living with HIV, as well as HIV transmission.
Yes, a DUO is not the same as a rapid test. Your results could take anywhere from a few hours to 2 weeks to get back to you, depending on where you get tested at.
I am more than certain you never had a risk for HIV. Even if there was blood in the giver's mouth, saliva has a number of enzymes and other elements that actually break down HIV and "deactivate" it, if you will.
I'm really going to try and believe what you say James, it's the only thing that will allow me to keep my sanity. I never knew something like this could be so traumatic . You are very confident that I did not contract HIV from receiving no a rim job with possible blood?
How many years how you been studying ? If you don't mind
Ok so I just ask my doctor for a duo HIV test?
I'm assuming that's different than a rapid test?
Results take longer ?
DUO at 28 days/4 weeks
Slightly, but only when having a real risk. HSV can, keyword CAN create open sores. However, once again, it only matters when having a real risk, which you have not.
James,
I forgot to add the fact that I do have HSV2. Does this change anything? I've read it makes you more likely to get HIV, but honestly never understood why.
Will a test at 2 weeks be reliable at all?
1 month and 3 month?
Thank you for the kind words. And if you do test, fully expect a negative.
Thank you so much James, all your words are greatly appreciated. I will. Check back and provide my test results once I do my blood work.
I Hope you have a great day and know that you do make a difference in people's lives (and easy their minds) like you have for me.
Nothing you add changes what I have already said to you. You can let this go knowing you did not have a risk for infection. No one has even been infected from analingus and I promise you will not be the first.
I get you are stressed, but you honestly have no reason to be concerned. I promise,
If I may add...
I will be testing this Friday (2 week mark)
And bi weekly after that
How accurate is a two week test/1 month test.
I plan to test bi weekly until the 3 month mark
James,
No need to worry about any grammatical errors as I am not here to correct you. Do my chances of contracting HIV increase if there were traces of blood from prior brushing or flossing ? Does it take a small amount of blood to infect or is it not that easy? Has anyone been infected from rimming? I am sorry to bombard you with so many questions , I am just stressed and don't know what to do with myself ( as you may imagine ) . You would say I there isn't much of a risk from me receiving a rim job.
Is there anyway to donate money for your time and knowledge ?
Wow, a lot of typos and terrible grammar as I read through that. I am so sorry.
I'm scared beyond belief and don't know how to deal with my worry and anxiety. Can you or anyone give any advice ?
Thank you for the response James. Even if light bleeding were to occur in her mouth there isn't much of a risk?
I messaged my DR and she said I am at risk and should be tested.
Do you have any medical background?( no offense to you )
Nothing you mention is a risk for infection.
While I am not officially anything yet, I am a medical student at Wake Forest University (not my intention to brag just answering your question) and I am actually studying to become an Infectious Disease doc and work with HIV-infected patients.
I can tell you why she said you should tests. One of my professors explained this to me once, and I have seen not only this site say this, but some others too.
Only sex with your hand is absolutely, 100% risk-free. In theory, just you could contract HIV from receiving analingus . However, is it a confirmed risk? Not at all.
Science has taught us there is only three real risks to contracting HIV, and they are:
Unprotected vaginal and/or anal sex
Sharing IV drug rigs
Mother to child during birth
Now, it is possible you could become infected? Yes, it is. Is it also possible that before I am done typing this, the world can explode? You bet.
There are risks whether big or small, that we take everyday. When comparing risks, driving a car is nearly as much as a risk for getting in a crash that unprotected insertive vaginal sex is for contracting HIV. Notice how I said nearly, I am NOT condoning vaginal sex without a condom.
Simply put, do not stres over this. Test if you feel the need to, but fully expect a negative. If you had a risk, I would say take a DUO test at 28 days.
