HIV DUO TEST AFTER 38 DAYS?

Hey there all,

I had a partially unprotected sexual encounter with a sex worker from brazil, and after 3 weeks I did a HIV rapid test which resulted negative. Obviously it is not reliable because it is way too early from the actual risky intercourse (usually 12 weeks as required by all experts).

Unfortunaly I found out just lately that there is another test which is almost 99% reliable at 28 days from the potential exposure to the HIV virus.

My question is: is it still that reliable after 38 days passed from the encounter? Can I still do it, and paying a quite consistent price without wasting it all for an unreliable response?

Also, I wanted to ask you whether it is a good sign that I did not present any of the ARS symptoms so far. Does it mean I am most surely negative ,or is it just normal?

Thank you very much in advance for your help guys, I am incredibly anxious and I would love to gain some defnite answers as soon as possible.

Kindest Regards, Thanks again for the wonderful support you provide,

Nick

* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusively negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusively negative results or a no-risk situation will be based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
* After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
* Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
* Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

well i went to a young people sexual health clinic and they said there is a low risk obviously, but it does not mean it is 100 percent negative. They did not have the duo test option so i did the hiv test but it was too early - 3 weeks after the exposure-. i am just looking for a certain response as you may understand.
I really thank you for your reassuring words though,
thank you very much all of you

You can take on anytime because you never had an exposure.

seeing as I should be considered one that is looking for a test more for a peace of mind, should i just wait for the 12 week test, or maybe test also with this 4th generation combined duo test? obviously I would do it if it is at least nearer to a certain reliability, if you say it is just a waste of money I will manage to wait until the 12 week pass.
After saying this, It is undeniable that I will get another test, whatever the DUO test will claim.

Here is what the UK says about the DUO tests.

Post-test discussion

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.

No info on duo test...it is not approved in America.

Again you had no risk.

you reckon? I know it is fairly low risk but I do want to quell the terrible pangs I have got about the action itself: I in fact have a girlfriend and I do not want to put her in any danger whatsoever. The fact of testing myself means also finding again a sort of peace of mind, although it means i have to still carry on with the regret of betraying her.
Merely speaking about the duo test, do you think I could do it, or is it too late?
Thank you again for your interest anyhow,
I kindly appreciate it Vance,

Nick

We used condoms but she practiced a fellatio without it, and also after the orgasm, she cleaned her sperm and my penis with the same tissue -she was a transsexual sex worker-. I promptly cleaned it with another clean tissue, but then i notice I had a minuscule ulcer on the shaft, probably caused by friction. My question is whether I can trust the result of the DUO test even though it is not correctly 28 days, but almost a week and a half more than that..Can I do it or do i have to wait for the 12 week test?

What is partially unprotected sex? You either had protected sex or you had unprotected sex.
