Unprotected Vaginal

Hello all,

I had unprotected vaginal sex last night. For me this is the first time in almost a year having sexual intercourse. I ended up having unprotected vaginal sex with a woman who's status is unknown. Is this considered a high risk exposure?

I plan on getting tested several times, probably at the 6 week and 12 week mark.

Any insight though would be appreciated and help calm my nerves.

Thanks!

You had unprotected vaginal sex, which IS a high risk, and you need to test for both HIV and other STD's.

If your exposure was LESS than 72 hours ago, you could go to the ER and begin PEP treatment. They will explain the protocol to you there.

If you have missed that 72 hour window period, you need to test at 28 days post this exposure with a 4th generation DUO test. Your doctor or HIV clinic will explain any follow up tests you need.

I wish you the best
