HIV Test Help!

Hi guys...my story is kind of long so just bear with me for it because I'm stressing out about this.

I started dating a girl back in mid September. She told me she was sexually active from the months of March through to and including May and she had a 1 time unprotected fling with a guy earlier in September. She said she tested for HIV in August (3 months after her last sexual relationship) and came back negative. I was more worried about the September incident. After 8 weeks, we went to her family doctor and got her tested for HIV, which came out to be negative (along with Hep C and all the other major STI). I knew that 8 weeks was not enough as a conclusive test is 3 months. I called my local province's AIDS infoline in February and they told me that she is still prone to risk unless she gets tested for a conclusive result.

I don't know if any of you know about the rapid assessment care program in Canada but apparently it is approved by the Health Ministry of Canada. Anyways, she did a rapid care test 5 months after exposure (back in September). The clinic lady said that there was a blood clot in the mixture (which isn't anything to be worried about according to her) and that the test came back negative.

The thing I am worried about is firstly, some sites urge that 6 months is the conclusive test as some people may take up to and including 6 months to produce anti-bodies to the virus. The second thing I am worried about is this rapid assessment care test. Both the clinic and the government hiv/aids line have said that it is as accurate as a full blood test and that 3 months mark is conclusive. I know that it seems obvious but I just wanted to turn to Medhelp and just get a reassurance. Teak and other helpers and forum members; can you confirm if I should be worried or not? PS - I have had multiple accounts of unprotected sex with her.

Much thanks

She was my first sexual partner but I did do an HIV and Hep C test in April just to assure her. Nursegirl sorry for asking another question, but have you heard of the rapid care test? (Not trying to insult your intelligence, just merely curious)

Her test results were conclusive, you have nothing to worry about.  3 months is the current recommended window period, and even that is ultra conservative.  There would never be a need to test after 3 months, unless a person was severely immunocompromised (chemo, terminal cancer, etc).

If the clinic had any doubt about the accuracy of the results, they would have recommended re-testing.  Trust in and believe her results.

Did YOU test along with her?  After all, it is only fair for both parties to be tested when entering a monogamous relationship.
