Rash and Hiv: Acute infection or hives

I had sex and the next day a rash (round) appeared all over my hands, no fever, diarrhea or other symptoms. Before I knew it I had a rash on both sides of my torso, my back, my legs, and my face. That night my lip and tongue were swollen so bad that I went to the emergency room. Now 4 days later the rash is gone and so is the swelling.  My boyfriend took an hiv test rapid (elisa) and it came back negative. He is the only one I have been with. He said that he was with a girl about 6 weeks prior. He does not show any symptoms or rashes. Could acute infection show up in less than 12hrs? Is it possible that I was infected with a virus?

Although I'm not a doctor and can't make a diagnosis, your rash and swollen tongue sound more like hives or food poisoning. And there's no way HIV shows up after 12 hours. It's been known to happen in only 5 or 6 days, but not 12 hours. If you used a condom, you have nothing to worry about.

No ARS shows up between 2-4 weeks after infection, and if your boyfriend tested 6 weeks after his exposure then his test is 95% accurate, to get a conclusive result he needs to test 3 months after the exposure, thats suposing he didnt use a condom, if a condom was used there is no RISK.
