Hey bud!
Here is from one worrier to another. I have been tested a number of times after a high risk exposure. My last test was in November 2007 which was like 3 1/2 years past exposure.
I got my negative and instead of being happy I started thinking like you. I was asking questions like "did they really run the test?", "did they get enough blood?" etc.
Well I pretty much went crazy, lost 10 pounds and had painful anxiety attacks. I had to get councilling and go on medication.
I feel much better now, but trust me....you gotta trust your results or you will go ballistic, and thats not much of a life.
From what I understand false negatives are EXTREMELY rare and mostly occur because people get tested during the window period.
Accept your results and move on (o:
Please review the medhelp rules. You cannot just post each time you feel anxiety is striking you. You have been told your test at 11 months is completely accurate. There is no need for you to continue to doubt your results, and doubt them unjustly. You even spoke with the nurse who reassured you about how the test was carried out. Most places will not let you watch as the test is developing, and will only inform you of the results after the fact. The blood may be taken from a needle, or a finger *****. It does not matter.
You should consider speaking to your doctor about your anxiety issues. Either that, or go and test again - and see that you are being paranoid for no reason.
oh, she also drew my blood with a needle instead of finger ***** for the test, i was putting pressure on my arm and looking at the clock while she was (most likely) administering the test. I didnt see a test device, although i wasnt looking very hard.
gotcha -- I dont know why i feel like i need to go back
Okay, just for your information... in facilities such as this, there are a TONNE of measures in place to ensure that 1) everyone is trained to the highest degree and 2) that there is no way a result is reported inaccurately. I would not worry. These facilities have a tonne of quality control and quality assurance measures in place (as they have to have them BY LAW).
Seriously, you are negative!
i understand, i asked her if everything was ran correctly and she said yes she tested the controls or something. Just a bit cocnerned because I overheard (who I though was) my nurse ask another person if they ran the test and the other person said yes. I guess they had 2 folks do it, i dont know why, though?
No reason to be concerned at all, you are being paranoid. The test is highly accurate. Time to move on.
