HIV or Anxiety... please help

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could help me. I have recently had a short period of encounters with a man, we have had unprotected sex about 20 times with and without semen, first on 20th July, last 04 September.

Around 5th Aug, I had a very sore irritable vagina with discharge, I went to my GP and they tested for yeast and bacterial infections which came back clear.

I then got a rash on the top of my vagina, where my pubic hair is... it was like dry skin.

This whole time I have had a very upset stomach, for about 5 weeks now and it wont subside.

17th aug, went and was tested for HIV and swabbed for STD's and also had a full blood test. My ESR results came back abnormal? does this relate to HIV.

I then have had a sore throat, sore ears, swollen neck and very painful right side of my neck that is not easing with antibiotics. I have taken 3 days worth now.

I have asked the man I was sleeping with and he has said that I am being silly and he hasn't got HIV... but i don't believe him.

Ive had flu like symptoms for about a week and a half now. also, I have had 2 mouth sores, went after 2 days.

Very itchy vagina and abnormal discharge.

Is any of this related to HIV or anxiety or do i have some sort of other infection.

I have had a fever ranging between 37.3 - 37.7.

If i get tested now, will it be conclusive? please can someone help.

the possibility of having an std can be a scary idea for people .the bad news is you are at risk for all std's whenever you have had unprotected sex it puts you at risk for whatever types of std's your partner may have .whenever someone is sexually active and is not in a long term relationship it is recommended to test regularly. but the good news is vaginal discharge is not a symptom of hiv nor does anything you mentioned point directly at hiv .

many stds's share some of the same symptoms.so that is why they have blood testingdiagnosis from symptoms is not accurate.things other than hiv can cause abnormal esr readings.

i would test for all std's including hiv but dont be surprised if it comes back negative.hiv is not as contagious as you think .many factors have to exist for infection to occur.so i wouldnt stress to much .i know its hard but it really does'nt help.

i do know that herpes can cause discharge it is rare but your rash and the absence of a bacterial infection make me want to suggest this also your mild elevated temps could be present  when the body is fighting something.

so talk to your dr and get yourself tested .

im sorry jennyjo1909 but i cant assess this mans truthfulness . i can only assess risk if he can show you a negative result than you are no longer at risk he can easily get a copy of his results from his physician .any desent human being would do that for you.it wont even cost him anything.that would really put your mind at ease and it would be evidence that what you are experiencing is from something else..that is all the help i can offer you here.

I would like to thank you for your help.

I am trying to forget about it until testing occurs.

Just one question if you are free?

What are the chances of me contracting HIV... 20 times unprotected vaginal sex with semen and without.

Also, the guy says he was tested in Feb - came neg. He said he is tested when he is tested for his diabetes type 2?

Does this sound true or should i be doubting him.

it is difficult to pinpoint your initial exposure but you can test at the 28 day mark try giving it an extra couple of days if you arent actually sure wich day was the day of youre exposure .

yes anxiety can play a big role in symptoms that is why symptoms are not used to identify std's .anxiety can cause upset stomach it can even cause burning hands and feet at times.so try to keep a cool head .mst std's are fairly easily cureable and you are not sure you have one until you get a positive result .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              just something to think about going into your new relationship certain stds can be passed orally .and  no sex without a condom .be well

Hi Jockojohnson,

I have a drs appointment this afternoon as they have called me back into discuss my bloods. not sure if that is worrying or not. in the letter it said make an appointment within 2 weeks. so that suggests not?

I will discuss all my concerns, but they are just not very helpful.

If i ask for a HIV test to be done. my question is, if these symptoms are from HIV which i have been having for a few weeks now. Mean i caught the virus 2 weeks before that say, so that would make it 28 days, would it be conclusive.

I will obviously go for follow up tests in say 6/8 weeks?

but would like your advice. I will ask to be tested for everything possible.

Also, very sore tounge, no sores, but red and sore, that a symptom of HIV?

And while i have got you, could anxiety be causing me an upset stomach for all this time.

I have had high stress regarding this exposure and I have started dating someone now and I am highly worried. not to mention having a bereavement this week. I know its hard to say but In your advice, should I worry about this?

I know i have put myself at risk which is stupid. Im only 20 and didnt even know about HIV until this recent event. maybe naive!

Also, i would like to thank you for your help.

28 days and a duo would  be a good rule of thumb

you might want to wait  so that you can include most recent exposure.

Hi,

thanks for your response, I am very worried of contracting HIV. I did think about herpes, but I haven't had any sores.

RE: my dates above, Is a test ok to take now as there were so many exposures?

I just want to get better, this has been on going for weeks and now I have HIV in my head I just cant get it out.

Thank you
