ARS incubation time

Dear all,

My story:

I had unprotected sex with a female sex worker, no visible blood or anything and I don't know her status. This week, 4-5 days after exposure I got sick and had a serious fever, went to a doctor and it was diagnosed as seazonal flu. Today(a day later) I was starting to feel better until all of a sudden I got severe chills and started shivering all over so I went back the doctor.

She gave me a shot to reduce the fever and said we might have to test for malaria/dengue if the fever remains.Meanwhile she also asked about unprotected sex. When I mentioned what had happened she gave HIV immediatley also a fair chance. This did not particularly make me happy and had me searching the internet until now.

I know I had a high risk encounter and will get myself tested and I know I will be stressed out about it. If what I am having right now could really be ARS I will be feeling a lot more stressed though.

I have read a lot about ARS now, it seems that 4-5 days is however a very short time for symptoms to occur. It seems to generally happen quite a bit later.

The fever and flu like sypmtons could easily have something to do with my life style the last months. Initially been working too hard and under a lot of stress and after that had a holiday but in stead of resting I have been partying and drinking way too much. (especially on those last days when this foolish thing happened)

I am trying to look for positives here without denying the facts.

What do you guys think?

no reason to bring up a thread that has been inactive for a couple of weeks just so you can say something.

I just had a blood test and have a high neutrophil count. The doctor says this inidcates a bacterial infection. Since HIV is a viral infection does this mean that my symptoms cannot be related to ARS?

Thanks in advance.

ARS starts 2-4 weeks after exposure and last 1-2 weeks. 4-5 days is unheard of...symptoms unrelated to HIV.
