may have contracted the virus?

I'm concerned that I may have recently been infected with the HIV virus. I've read that flu-like symptoms are common 3-6 weeks after infection and they last several weeks. I had flu-like symptoms (headache, body ache, sore throat, nausea, fever) 5 days after I think I was infected, and they lasted only about 4 days. What are the chances that this indicated I have the virus? Is it possible my body just got the symptoms quicker than usual, and they lasted a shorter amount of time? Unfortunately I have to wait another 2 months to get tested and find out for sure.
Thanks for the help

right, right. I'm definitely going in 6 weeks to find out for sure.

Be sure to test regardless; it's better to know with certainty.

THANK you thank you. I'm still incredibly freaked out, but that answers my question, and it's good to know all I probably had was just a regular flu.
You've helped me sleep better tonight, thanks again.

Symptoms of HIV, when present, occur only in the window 2-4 weeks after infection.  Your symptoms were unrelated.

Test at 6 weeks, as most HIV-infected persons develop antibodies at this time.  Test again at 12 weeks; 12 weeks results are conclusive.

Well, it's reassuring in a way to know that other people understand what this fear is like. Yes, it was the stupidest thing i've ever done in my life, i was basically blacked out drunk and don't remember even who he was. So, he could have HIV and he could not. I don't know.
So, you're saying that you think it's possible the HIV flu symptoms can show up just 5 days later, even though they're not supposed to for 3 weeks?

Was this with an unknown person.. or someone you could trust? If it was with someone totally unknown and may have HIV.. all you can do is hope that you dont have it and get tested.. thats what i am doing.

Sorry, yes, I engaged in unprotected sex, vaginal and oral. About 5 days later, I had the symptoms. What should I think?

this isn't enough information.. did you engage in unprotected sexual intercourse? you didn't really give any info about how u think you contracted the virus.
