Headbutt

I went to a bar and a guy headbutted me. It was not a fight, but he headbutted me so hard that i bleed a lot and needed stitches on my nose.

I do not recall the guy bleeding when he headbutted me, but after i started bleeding i looked up and saw the guy bleeding from his head.

I immediately went to the bathroom and got toilet paper to cover my nose, later went to hospital and got 6 stitches.

I did read that you need to come into contact with a lot of blood and must be very deep to be at risk for HIV. Am i at risk seeing that my nose did need stitches?

No, as I said deep muscle or tissue. But again the guy is not standing over you spewing blood all over you.

Hey Vance. Please do not get upset. Really my last question. The cut was right in the middle of my nose on the bone, the doc said they could like see the bone after cleaning it. Now i know there is not a whole lot of tissue between the skin and bone on that part of the nose.

Is that not considered as really deep then?

Uncontrollable bleeding deep into muscle or tissue. A vein or artery cut.

Most stitches are given to close a wound because it is far apart, not because it is deep.

Thank you very much Vance. What would classify as a deep cut just for interest sake?

No this is not a risk. When head hit nose the guy or you pulled away, didn't stay around and start smearing blood all into the cuts. But even so your cut while it did require stiches was not deep enough.
