High Risk for HIV? Worried/Anxious

Hi,

Me: 23yrs, gay, male

Since November, I've had 4 male partners and have never had a 'high' risk exposure, but I'm still very worried and anxious. What would be my risk of having HIV considering this time line? ...

November 3rd- briefly gave unprotected oral, but no ejaculation (2-3 minutes). Briefly received protected anal penetration, but no ejaculation (2-3 minutes).

December 15- Briefly gave and received unprotected oral and gave protected anal (few minutes each and no ejaculation during either)

January 31- Negative Rapid HIV test

April 29- Unprotected giving and receiving oral for 10 minutes, no ejaculation

May 2- Unprotected giving and receiving oral for 10 minutes, no ejaculation

I am worried mainly because from December until now I have had issues with my prostate (swelling causing me to pee more frequently and some discomfort at times). I have seen a doctor about this twice and was on cipro for a month and doxycycline for a month (cipro in March, doxy in May), neither of which have cured the problem (my symptoms are minor now, but still present). Also, while on cipro, I developed a white coating on my tongue that really hasn't gone away since. It just seems whiter than usual and brushing doesn't wipe it out entirely (worried it could be thrush?). And finally, over the last 3-4 days I've had a sinus headache (sides of my head hurt and upper teeth and jaw are sore). No other HIV symptoms, I'm just worried that the lingering prostate infection and sinus infection could mean my immune system was compromised (I've never had a sinus headache that affected my teeth).

I hope it's just my imagination and I'm just reading too much into all of these symptoms, but still HIV is a terrifying thing. What are the chances that I contracted HIV during one of those instances? All of my partners said they were negative when I asked, but of course people lie.

Thank you,

J

Please do if it involves oral sex or protected anal sex.

Thank you for the rules clarification. Though I did post last January regarding separate incidences and was tested after, I was still worried about two more recent acts as I outlined above. Additionally, I have other symptoms that worried me and I was hoping to be given some peace of mind; namely, the potential thrush and sinus infection. If I sound redundant then it is out of ignorance of the condition. Information I have found online has been conflicting and inconsistent, which is why I posted on a message board to hear from an actual person.

If posting a few times in January and a couple of times in June is "excessive," then I will ask my question elsewhere.

* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusively negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusively negative results or a no-risk situation will be based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
* After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
* Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
* Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

Thanks for your response. I was mostly worried that somehow I could have been infected from precum.

Question...Would having a lingering prostate infection and a sinus infection manifest as acute hiv infection symptoms or would they come later as one's immune system is further compromised? I would feel better obviously if there was no chance that either symptom could be HIV related as I did test negative January 31st.

You never had a risk to begin with, for all penetrative sex acts you were protected, you used a condom and that was keeping you safe. Unprotected oral sex can't transmit the virus. Since, the transmission mechanism is already missing.

You need to understand that whilst you were having oral sex, your own body was working as a defense mechanism to the virus. The saliva has the sugar protien and the gastric acid in your stomach both are capable of completely inhibiting the virus.

You are okay. Nothing to fret about. keep using condoms correctly and consistently for penetrative act and you'd be okay.
