I Slept With an HIV positive girl.

I slept with an HIV positive girl (she only told me afterwards). We did it once & for about 3 minutes. I went to the hospital & i was given Post Exposure Prophylaxis pills to take for 28days. I started taking them after 60 hours. I have been taking them daily.

I am scared, what are my chances of contracting the disease?

Has anyone had a similar situation. Please help!

You need to test 3 months after your last dose of nPEP.  Hopefully the nPEP will be effective.  There's unfortunately no way to know until you are tested.

As for the "legal", "criminal" discussion, what she did was immoral but not illegal, because the act was consenual and you decided to have unprotected sex with her...anyone can lie about their status...people are responsible for THEMSELVES.

That would be like a junkie blaming their drug dealer for an overdose.

I wish you the best, hopefully you'll come through this okay, if anything, you've learned one HECK of a lesson about the importance of condoms.

Hi,

I went to get tested today exactly 4 months post exposure & 3 months post the completion of PEP. Results were negative.

Should i take these as conclusive?

I recently had a definite exposure once off sex with a girl for about 3 minutes. I was put on PEP for 28 days. Started taking them after 60 hrs. I adhered to strictly until I finished the course.

5 weeks after the exposure I went to get tested & they were negative (ELISA).

I was a bit relieved, but im still worried.

I know I still have to go for further test after 3 months & 6 Months.

From your experience can you please explain how often these results tend to change? Especially after taking PEP.

Should I take some positives & easy up a bit after my 5 weeks post exposure ELISA test?

I would greatly appreciate any input from you.

Its scary im worried sick & cant concentrate on work or my studies. My muscles are twitching. I just hope these pills work (Truvada 200g & Reyataz 150g are the pills im taking once a day). Its a vicious world out there & people should really be careful. I have learnt my lesson. But i hope its not too late. One last question --- Do you know anyone or persons who actually slept with someone positive & took the nPEP? and remained negative?? Thanks again.

She should have told you then.That,s criminal on her part.Your chances with nPEP are better that you may not contract the virus than if you didn,t take nPEP at all.Also it,s harder for a man to contract it from a woman than the other way around.

Unfortunately it was unprotected sex.

I am regretting this stupid incidence & will never repeat it.

Your taking nPEP so that should reduce your chances of infection,however it,s not 100% guarenteed.She should have told you before you engaged in sex together.She placed you at risk and in some countries thats a criminal offence.This was obviously unprotected sex i assume.

Was it protected sex? I slept with someone from a very high infection rate and who was a CSW but I used protection and mine was also for around 2 minutes. I was told PEP and even testing not necessary and that I could go on having unportected sex with my girlfriend.
