Canker Sore and Oral Sex

I am a gay man and I'm really scared because I did a very stupid thing.  Even though I was told do not have oral sex when you have canker sores, I did it anyway.  i thought that since the sore was in a weird place, no precum would get on it and I'd be ok (STUPID!).  Well, the man I was with (a hookup) came in my mouth without my permission and *** got on the canker sore.  I am so scared now that HIV will infect me because it's an "opening in the mucous membrane."  I get tested every six months anyway, but I am beside myself because of this.  The man assured me he was negative, but we all know how that goes.  Should I be as freaked out as I am?

Having open cuts and sores doesn't really change statistics regarding oral sex. The environment virus founds would be too hostile, whether there are cuts or not. The risk is negligible. Saliva neutralizes the virus.

calm down man...your friend is right...rationally you shouldn't spend even a minute's time worrying about getting HIV from that situation.  Do your regular check up when ever that comes up, but put it out of your head because it's not something to be concerned over.

Thanks Uniquelymen:

I just talked to an HIV-positive friend who said that the sore would have to be bleeding for it to be high risk because HIV needs access to the bloodstream.  Factor that with saliva and exposure to air, and he said I should not be too scared.

Hi there,

Your risk remains low from this incident.

I personally would not test for such 1 time incident.

Stay cool
