kissing + hsv2 + hiv

Hi,
I got hsv-2 on lips from deep kissing a girl for about a minute in a dark place. What are the chances of simultaneous HIV transmission keeping in mind that she might have had a recent exposure to hsv-2 and hiv herself. I understand kissing is stated to be no risk event but I got a hsv-2 (not hsv-1) breakout exactly 3 days after kissing and suffering multitude of other copybook symptoms 3 weeks since the exposure. I understand hsv-2 by kising is a very rare event but what do I make regarding the risks with an additional fact that my oral and dental health are also not in good shape. Looking forward to your response. I have always been exremely careful with regards to safe sex and always presumed kissing was safe after reading.

Please help me with an answer considering these additional details. Havng seperate forums for herpes and hiv is confusing my case even further. Please share your knowledge. It is very well stated by doctor that hsv-2 increases the risk of hiv transmission. Can I have a clear pattern of thinking on my risk level..

Thanks..

You might want to consult LIZZIE LOU because she has more experience than I do and is well respected by the doctors here at medhelp.

As being a senior on this board and if you are able to understand my concrn and the scenario, can I request you to review this situation with other seniors and guide me accordingly. I am very serious with my concern and really need some guidance.

I understand that kissing queries can be open and shut cases for risk evaluations for you. But, keeping in view of doctor's response in the above posted link to another poster and my symptoms, I would need an honest, unbiased evaluation without pre-conceived assumptions.

In all honesty I have never heard of such a case as this so I would assume HIV transmission is not possible.

I request some attention to my case. Please help me with correct situation analysis.

As per the doctor's response, if one of the 2 people have herpes of lips and hiv and they kiss, the herpes gets transmitted to the other person, it creates doorway for hiv through micro tears in oral mucous membranes.

Am I getting it wrong. I mean this situation results in direct injection of hiv virus into the micro tear due to continuous rubbing/sucking of lips for over 1 minute with no exposure to air and minimal saliva.

I know the whole situation is kind of complex whereby even doctors don;t have sure shot answers. But, again, I need to know if I am evaluating the risk correctly or no.

Pls, do not be biased in replying to me as this is not a simple kissing question. This exposure brought oral herpes breakdown 3 days after kissing and I have had all te symptoms i.e. sore throat, fever, chest rash and oral ulcers..

I am begging for help here. I understabd I need to help myself but I need to get the facts to help myself.

You are not going to be the first person in history to contract HIV from kissing--if you can't accept this you need to seek professional help.

Friends,
I am confused looking at my symptoms and need some help from someone who really knows. I saw this thread from the doctor and it is scaring me. If you have time, please take a look at it and reply back. Maybe, I am not reading it correctly due to inbuilt fear but if someone can make me see light of day I will really appreciate.

Here, the questioner is clearly talking about herpes acquasition during kissing from oral herpes and hiv positive individual. The doctor says "theoretically possible". Theroetical possibility and no possibility don;t have same meaning. What do I do now as I for sure know I got herpes breakout on lips after the kiss. I feel very unlucky and completely shattered and broken.

Not intending to keep goin on with this thread but just needed to make sure that while evaluating my hiv risk you are taking into consideration what doctor says in this forum that simultaneous transmission of hiv and hsv2 increases the risk factor. Now, whether that comment applies only to sexual intercourse or if it applies to kissing as well.

If you & other folks can answer this question, I guess I would not need to post any further queries..

Thanks a bunch...

What part is it you don't understand that you didn't have an exposure by deep kissing? It doesn't matter if you had HSV1 and HSV2 if you didn't have a risk to begin with which kissing is not.

Teak,
I beg you if you can point me to something that telle me that oral hsv-2 acquired during kissing does not increase hiv risk. I have not read any information pertaining to it. The dcotors normally refer hsv-1 as a risk of kissing but what if person acquired hsv-2 from kissing.

If a person has unprotected sex with someone who has genital herpes and hiv, his risk doubles. Isn't kissing the person who just acquired oral hsv-2 and is hiv positive, equally dangerous. Just think...

I am unsure if I am putting across the question incorrectly or nobody want to understand because of some pre-conceived notions.

You are an educator. Please understand that an incorrect evaluation here might end up putting someone's life at risk.

Again, thanks for all your kindness, time and answers .

I respect everybody's opinion. However, on the complete medhelp site, there is not a single case like mine where the person got oral hsv-2 infection while kissing.

I wish doctor had answered few of such questions but the answers that everyone discuss here is primarily for acquasition of hsv-1 by kissing.

The dynamics change with hsv-2. It could be passed only if the girl was recently infected. And, we call know that with it comes the possibility that she could have gotten hsv-2 and hiv be performing oral sex on somebody.

I know I may be sounding a bit crazy. But, just think of the scenario. I am not here to challenge anyone but just want to have a reasonable discussion and come to risk evaluation based on facts which haven't been discussed on this forum before.

I understand that this is science and even science has many loopholes but till now this situation is not addressed on this forum. If you think this has been discussed in the past, kindly post me the link. Currently, I get a feel as if nobody is understanding my concern.

Again..Thanks for your time folks..Please do not hate me. I am just confused and trying to figure things out for myself. The doctors I am visiting are also not helping in clearing it out..

for smereason, I am unable to post in doctor's forum as the site is not processing my CC details. In the mean time, could some knowledgable folk please comment on my last post.

" The kissing exposure was in 2 parts whereby the first kiss lasted 20-30 seconds followed by another deep kiss 5 or so minutes later that lasted another minute or so.

So, even in this situation, can I be sure that even though hsv-2 infection happened 5 minutes ago, still no doorway in skin was created for hiv to permeate through when I kissed the girl second time after 5 minutes..

See, a lot of my worries are due to not knowing how herpes functions. Does it create environment for another infection immeditaly after it infects the host or does it take a while longer i.e. a day or so..

This is my final question before concluding this for good"

You have to have an exposure for another STD to increase the risk of contracting HIV and you did not even have a risk. HIV is not transmitted by kissing.

Teak....
I am scared **** with the new facts that emerged after discussion with the dermatologist and ID specialist I went to see today about HSV-2 increasing the chances. Although I appreciate the sense of humor from your side, I am just too overwhelmed with the information to actually find it funny in my situation.

It must be said that it is extremely rare to get hsv-2 infection inly from kissing. Well, its almost equavalent to get struck by lightning as people do not get hsv-2 breakouts orally after their initial infection(read few posts from Terri Warrnen) so it would have been quite possible that the girl had recent hsv-2 and hiv infection making her viral load sky rocket to cause further infection to myself..

Anyways, thanks for calming me down. Just 1 more question.

Can't hiv virus get rubbed into skin tissue of the mouth just as the way herpes virus gets rubbed causing infection.

So, can I take from both of ypu (Teak & Rainlover) that HIV can not be transmitted by kissing even when the other person (with recent oral hsv-2 & hiv infection) has infected me with hsv-2 on my lips by kissing me.

Can this be taken to the bank?
