Bachelor

I am getting married tonight and 36 hours ago i had an unprotected vaginal insertive sex with a sex worker.
I was so drunk and started with protection but the girll took the condom off at some point.

36 hours after i started truvada and it s been 1 hour so far.
I will take truvada everyday at same time for 30 days.

I am trying to convince the sex worker to get tested but it looks hard.

I will still use protection with my wife tonight and i am concerned about side effects of truvada during honeymoon and how will i explain the pills to my wife.

What are my chances of getting hiv even with using truvada daily for 28 days?

Pls answer my post friends, i am so anxious and getting married tonight

If you want to take nPEP, you should consult a doctor, not try to treat yourself or turn to strangers on the internet for medication advise, VERY bad idea.

nPEP would not have really been strongly recommended in your situation, it's usually only recommended when there's been an exposure to a known positive partner.  Your overall chance of becoming positive, even if the sex worker was infected is pretty slim to begin with anyway.

If you're going to continue the nPEP, consult a doctor.

you did start your PEP at the right time! but adding kaletra later boosts the anti hiv strength of your drug regimen. you are still fighting any hiv after 3 days, making sure any stray virus were inactivated. you are overthinking this. Truveda still does a very very good job by itself.

For PEP to be effective, it has to be started very early after the exposure. We are talking hours not days. In animal models of infection, effectiveness of PEP really suffers as the delay in initiation increases. Most experts feel that after 3 days there is no use to starting PEP. Additionally, many also now accept that Truvada alone may not be sufficient for PEP and that adding a third drug is better. If it has been within 3 days of your exposure you should be able to discuss PEP with someone at a public STD clinic (if you are in the US or Europe) and probably get a supply of PEP.

this is what i read on the body.com

Truveda is a double drug in one pill. Tenofir and FTC. This is a fairly typical drug, and is sometimes taken with kaletra for even more effectiveness. If you are worried, try and get that, but you have a very good regimen with truvada alone.

I mean Truveda itself is not enough and very dangerous if hiv infected since hiv can generate mutations against it

Thank you very much for the reply

I hope the side effects wont be alot.It has been 5 hours so far and nothing weird so far.

I didnt consult a doctor , went online and saw truveda and bought the pills by overnight shipment and called my doctor friend.

Do you think Truveda is just enough and 36 hours after is it too late

Do I need to take truveda everyday at the same hour?

I know insertive vaginal sex risk is 1 in 1000 but with Truveda usage starting 36 hours after and 28 days usage , what do you think the percentage will be?

I know my questions may sound weird but wedding tonight , lots of stress and i hope this doesnt happen to anyone on their most beautiful days of their lifes

very low chance of hiv with the PEP - if you even got infected! continue the PEP though. don't know how you will explain the pills to your wife ! bit of a pickle...i guess as you are on your honeymoon you could say they are viagra! or try 'cholestrol pills'
i think you are going to be fine, with regards to hiv...PEP is very effective. good luck with the honeymoon
