Have i caught an STD

Hi  Please, help as i am really worried.

I visited a prostitute to have sex.  I told her to put two condoms on my penis thinking i would be extra careful.  We started having sex and i asked her to play with my anus half way through.  She took one of the condoms of my penis and put lube of some description on it.  Then she put her finger in the condom that was in her vagina,  in and out of my anus for a minute or two.  The room was quite warm and we were both a bit sweaty, now i am really worried i have caught something.  I have a lovely wife and iam devasted of what i have done.  What is the percentage I have caught HIV.

Cheers
Phil

He doesn't need any STD tests.

Hello

I would recommend that you need to get an HIV test and tests for other STDs.

The reason is obvious, vaginal secretions came in contact with your anal mucosa (the time delay of about 10 seconds would not change the low risk to non-existent).

Your risk is low but testing is indicated. Once you receive your negative results, you will be completely relaxed about the episode.

Best wishes.

Your Comment

"I would not think it was a high risk. I do not agree that it was a non-existent risk. Yes we know that HIV does not survive long in air, but of course as she used same condon on you which was inside her vagina (and hence vaginal secretions on it) and from your description it does not seem there was a delay in transfer of same condom from her vagina on her finger"

THE DELAY FROM HER TAKING IT OFF ME AND PUTTING IT IN MY ANUS WAS ABOUT TEN OR MORE SEC.

Does this help?

Hello

I would not think it was a high risk. I do not agree that it was a non-existent risk. Yes we know that HIV does not survive long in air, but of course as she used same condon on you which was inside her vagina (and hence vaginal secretions on it) and from your description it does not seem there was a delay in transfer of same condom from her vagina on her finger, there is some possible risk.

First it is not necessary she had HIV and this activity is not high risk.

However I feel it did involve a possible exposure, I feel you should consider an HIV1-/2 antibodies test 12 weeks post last exposure.

You also need to consider testing for other STDs. If you live in the UK, you can easily visit a local GUM (Genitourinary Medicine) clinic or your GP and they will organise free tests for you.

Alternatively, you can visit a private Health Care Commission approved clinic (if you live in the UK) and they can perform an instant/rapid HIV test with results within half an hour or an HIV DUO Lab. based test with results usually within 4 hours.

Terrence Higgins Trust in the UK also provides free HIV testing at various locations and they use a recognised HIV-1/2 rapid whole blood test and counselling, tetsing and post test counselling is usually completed within one hour.

Best wishes.

Thanks.

Then i see no reason for you to worry about. Your case for HIV is non-existent category. Since its skin to skin contact, you may check for other STDs involved.

If you read the post accurately

No cuts that I am aware of.  But it doesn't matter as her finger was in a condom as it was in my anus.  She also used lots of lube on my anus and the condom with her finger in it.

Just wondering based on your situation, did she had any cuts on her fingers? if she had, would'nt it be the same as anal sex? The fingering in the anus with cut sores is similar like that of unprotected anal sex? am i right to say this?

I am worried again,

Would I be in a high risk category based on....

I visited a prostitute to have sex.  I told her to put two condoms on my penis thinking i would be extra careful.  We started having sex and i asked her to play with my anus half way through. We stopped having sex and she took one of the condoms of my penis and put lube of some description on it.  Then she put her finger in the condom that she took off me, which was also in her vagina,  and fingered my anus for a minute or two.  The room was quite warm and we were both a bit sweaty, now i am really worried i have caught something.   I DID NOT GIVE HER ORAL AT ALL.

Well you may ask an HIV or infectious diseases specialist and see whether or not they advise you testing for the exposure you described.

Best wishes.

Thanks again your work is greatly appreciated.  Now I can get some sleep.

And rest assured will not be doing that ever again, the last few days have been unbearable.

You were advised wrong. HIV is very fragile and it doesn't take anything anymore than temp change to cause the outside shell of the virus to be damaged and it inhibits the virus the ability to infect. HIV is not transmitted outside its host.

I heard they can survive for several hours, when exposed to air?

The vaginal secreations were exposed to air, ph changes and temp changes and at no time were you at risk.

Hello

The rationale here is that she inserted the condom in your anus which came in contact with her vaginal secretions, yes?

We do not know her HIV status.

On scientific basis it is a potential exposure to STDs (you want peace of mind and firm reassurance, so whether it is a low or high risk exposure, it is NOT a non-existent exposure).

I would advise HIV1/2 testing 12 weeks post last exposure. You may consider getting screened for other STDs as these can be more easily transmitted.

Best wishes.

Thanks.

At not time was he ever at risk of contracting HIV in the situation he provided.

Hello

You did expose yourself to the risk of STDs including HIV (though it is not necessary that she was having any STD or HIV, but you do not know her status).

The risk emerged as the condom was used on her for vaginal sex and then the same condom used on you.

Risk is likely to be not a high risk.

If you get an HIV-1/2 antibodies test 12 weeks post last exposure, it will suffice.

I would advise to get tested for other STDs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis which are easier to be transmitted as compared to HIV.

You will also need anal swabs to be taken for gonorrhoea and chlamydia and if you have given her oral sex (unprotected), also throat swabs for these two infections.

Your urine can be tested for gonorrhoea and chlamydia by PCR test skipping a urethral swab.

Thanks and best wishes.

THANKS AGAIN TEAK FOR YOUR QUICK REPLY,

The pro use lots of lube, on herself and on the condoms so Iam almost certain that end of its covered iam more worried about her using a condom that was inside her vagina, then in my anus.

How big a risk was this.

The friction of the two condoms rubbing together can cause them to fail.

THANKYOU FOR YOUR REPLY

Why was i at more of a risk with two condoms?

What was the risk of "   She took one of the condoms of my penis and put lube of some description on it.  Then she put her finger in the condom that was in her vagina,  in and out of my anus for a minute or two.  The room was quite warm and we were both a bit sweaty".

Cheers
