Oral sex risks

Hello doctors, I just read this article (a digest of many studies, referenced by a similar site, aidsvancouver) that states that oral sex (particularly receptive but in some cases insertive) is a means of hiv transmission. what do you think?

"Although most of the several dozen case reports to date have been of receptive oral intercourse, it should be noted that there have been reports of HIV transmission associated with insertive fellatio as well as two reports of transmission associated with cunnilingus and one of insertive anilingus.9 The presence of inflammation in the mouth, caused by sores, trauma, or infection is described in some of these reports. The relative rarity of cases of HIV infection attributed to oral transmission is likely to be influenced by the rarity with which oral exposure has occurred without other forms of penetrative sexual contact and the tendency of attributing HIV transmission to any higher risk exposure which can be identified."

here is the article:

Here is a more recent, large-scale study of serodiscordant couples showing the extreme unlikelihood of contracting HIV through oral sex:

Not a single person who was HIV-negative got HIV from oral sex, after a multitude of oral encounters with someone who was confirmed HIV-positive.   You can find any outlier, and you can also find calculations that lead to an 0.001% risk of infection this way.  If you wish to lead your life in fear of a situation that is akin to winning the lottery jackpot, that is, of course, your choice.

If you're concerned, just use condoms for any sexual activity with someone of unknown status.

Thanks CurfewX. I am not worried about future events as I only practice safe sex but i have been researching the various communities due to 2 previous exposures a few years back, one involving a bite from a csw that broke my skin and the other a masturbation with saliva and possibly vaginal fluids.
You're not going to get HIV either of those ways.  If you're irrationally still concerned about those events, get tested for peace of mind, but it will be a waste of time and your test will be negative.
