Oraquick Advance Question

Hello,

I've searched the forums trying to find something like my situation, but can't.  So I've decided to post my specific situation for feedback.

Just yesterday I received an Oraquick Advance Rapid HIV test via the oral swab method.  The nurse (an RN) instructed me on how to swab my gums.  I did so as instructed.  After swabbing my gums, she took the swab device from me and started to put it into the developing vial.  When she reached over, she spilled some of the developing solution out of the vial.  She went ahead and put the swab into the vial.  Before the saliva began to travel up the device (before it began to turn from white to pink) the nurse took out a new developer vial, removed the swab completely from the vial it was in, and put it in the new vial.  After this, the device seemed to operate normally.  The pink traveled up the device.  The line appeared on the control line.  The pink continued to travel up the device until all the pink disappeared and left only the one line at the control line.  At 20 minutes the nurse and I both looked at it and, because only the control line was visible, she called it negative.  I asked her if taking the swab out of the vial might invalidate the results, and she said no, it shouldn't.  She left the swab in the vial for an extra 3 minutes passed the 20 minutes to see if it changed, but it did not.  She reported my result officially as negative.

My test took place well beyond the window period, approximately 5 1/2 years after the possible exposure.  I have read concerning the Oraquick Advance that, if the test took place beyond the window period and if the control line is visible, then the result is valid.

Can anyone comment on this situation?  Is my test result valid?

Thanks.

Thanks for the well wishes and I wish you well, too.  So, my negative test result is valid and conclusive even with the situation as described - with the switching of the vials?  Can anyone else comment on this?
