Oraquick kit didn't contain instructions

I took an oraquick test yesterday and it came out negative (woo hoo~) and I have a question about false positives on Oraquick tests.

Did everything right:
-I had dental work that morning and waited over an hour after having a medicated wash applied to my gums (anti-inflammatory)
-WELL after my window period for risk
-Accidentally touched my cheek with the swab but I didn't actively swab my cheek
-Test sat for 20 minutes

The one thing that DOES concern me is that my test didn't have the instructional booklet in it.  I followed the instructions on the official oraquick video, except the lid on the solution wouldn't pop off so I had to twist it.  The solution didn't spill.  The control line developed.

Should I be concerned that my test didn't have the instructions in it?  Everything else was normal.  The tamper seal was not broken.  Seeing what OCD and anxiety can do to worried wells, I really just want to put this whole ordeal behind me, so I hope this is no big deal.  I just want to take my negative result as accurate because HIV testing is very expensive here.

If the test was incorrect, or tampered with, then you would not have had the result you had.

Don't worry, your test was fine :)

"I wish I could give you both best answers.  Wah."

Best answers are nice, but not a big deal....give it to Apollo.

Apollo, don't say I never gave you anything!  ;0)  Happy Birthday, lol!

Ahh.  You guys are the best.  Thanks for keeping me level-headed through what has been the most stress-inducing three days of my life.  I can't believe I was lied to, but then again I was a dumb senior in HS.

I wish I could give you both best answers.  Wah.

"If the test was tampered with/messed up, the results would be invalid and not readable correct?"

Correct.

Thanks :) this past week has been a roller coaster for me.  I'm assuming the vast majority of false negs come from people who test too early/don't test correctly?  False poz makes sense...sometimes pregnant women will set off an antibody test for some reason but actually be negative...

So, one last time and I PROMISE I'll shut up.  If the test was tampered with/messed up, the results would be invalid and not readable correct?

You'/re fine.  It's almost impossible to do the test wrong.

Time to put this behind you one and for all.  You are conclusively negative.

We posted at the same time. If the test was not taken correctly the, you would not get a clear positive / negative result.

Naturally if you are still concerned then take a test at a clinic but I do not think for one moment that your results would change. You test was fine Kiki.

Looking again at your history, your test would be conclusive from that risk as if im correct, it was years ago, yes?

Was over two years ago.  Never considered it a risk until about a week ago when I found out that the guy had lied to me about being a drug user and being bi.  (those largely influence the odds of being HIV+ here, idk about elsewhere).  So I'd be seroconvergent by now for sure.  I'm just concerned if missing parts from the test (the swab and solution were there, though, just not the instructions) should influence the results.

I had unprotected sex as well, with no ejaculation, as stated in another post.  I'm aware now that the CDC throws out a lot of butt-covering stats.  Not super worried about it, but it's still reassuring to know.

Well you will be negative as your oral sex is not a risk of HIV transmission.
