Thanks Vance. Much appreciated!
To add one line from Dr.Hook you have a better chance of getting hit by lightening while reading this responce then you do of getting HIV from oral sex.
In theory anything is possible, but in reality oral sex is not a risk. Several studies have shown that it is not a risk.
And the immune system is only really compromised when you have something serious going on...like chemo and organ transplant, everything else your immune system is fine.
Thanks for the responses. I wasn't aware that there is zero risk for HIV transmission in oral sex. I always thought that was a myth? And that there is always a theoretical risk, although very low...
Also @getitright77 I wasn't claiming that my symptoms were related to the encounter...but rather my cough was irritating my throat & my immune system may have been compromised due to the chest cold.
Transmission of the hiv virus via oral sex is zero, protected or unprotected.you had no risk.your symptoms are not related to hiv.you,ve just got a common chest cold and sore throat.hiv testing is not required, however you might want to consider testing for common std,s.
Oral sex is not a risk for HIV regardless of cuts, sores, chapped/peeled lips, or sore/irritated throat. Despite the common occurrences of the factors that you cite, there have been no confirmed cases of anyone catching HIV through oral sex. Thus, those factors are completely irrelevant regarding HIV transmission. You should just forget about this as far as HIV is concerned, although other STDs are a possibility.
