Yes it can be indicative of something not being right..I had this confirmed by 3 Doctors.

For all the people asking about CBC'S being indicative that something is not right , yes its true, even when it pertains to HIV. I have asked 3 doctors, we all know a CBC can not tell you if you have HIV obviously, thats not what some people on here are asking, they are aking if a CBC can be indicative that something is off, and it can. Especially if its been months since an exposure to HIV. I have had unprotected sex twice, last year, I'am now pregnant and worried about my HIV results since I was stupid. I asked my family Dr, my ob/gyn and my former ob/gyn if a CBC can be indicative of HIV and they said yes it can. My  CBC was normal, its been 6 mths since I had unprotected oral sex, they all 3 told me, I have nothing to worry about about my HIV test coming back postive because of the simple fact that my CBC is very normal, they said my white blood cells would be off by alot if something was not right.

this is an HIV specific forum, are you going to post this in the other forms as well?
Of couse that indicates something is up, but do you understand that a person living with HIV can go years with a normal CBC without medication?

I also know that a CBC does not diganose HIV, I have common sense. Again please read what I was saying, no one said anything about a CBC being off means a person has HIV, but it means that something is going on...they were not talking about informing people to continue HIV testing because of a messed up CBC, they were answering my question with my concerns because of the 2 mistakes I made, they were telling me based off of my CBC being normal, more than likely I'am fine and do not need to worry about my HIV test results coming back bad...understand ?

I realize all of that, please read what I was saying, they said if something was not right it CAN BE indicative, they didnt say it was ! But yes HIV detroys your immune system so of course your blood cells would be off at some point, they werent saying that if someone's CBC was off that it would mean they would have HIV, they were saying it would show that something was going on, either an infection etc. Since my concern is HIV, they answered my question based off of that. If your blood cells are out of whack, obvisouly you have to do whatever it is to find out what is causing it.

your white blood cell can be off by a dozen or more other things rather than HIV , if someone asks if they their CBC was not normal and had a no risk situation , or a negative result 3 months post exposure, ect...it would not be fair to say since your blood work is off then you must have HIV or to inform them to contiune testing...it is not used to diagnose HIV and could be from many of other reasons other than HIV.
