Question about hiv testing

When I get tested for job they always do a rapid test which is a finger prick but they also take blood from my arm I'm not sure what it is but someone said it may be a confirmatory test ...what is a confirmatory test?

My possible risk exposure was september 13th i was tested october 7th amd only because someone i had sexual relations with had syphilis turns out i had it too so i dont know the proper protocol when dealing with these situations but i kinda think it was too soon to get tested

The rapid test are very reliable at 3 months post exposure. Laboratory blood tests are even more sensitive so both test are trust worthy. Unless you had a specific episode, ie risk event I would relax. If you are still concerned visit another clinic that offers a free test, ask them before you take the test what type it is.

Yea but unfortunately this free clinic has no direct number and when i call him he doesnt know what hes talking about he tried to say it was an "accute hiv test" which ive never heard of then when i mentioned names of hiv tests i said pcr test he says "oh yea pcr test" ...very unreliable and unprofessional

Sometimes testing centres carry out a POCT rapid test, then send a blood sample to the lab for confirmation. It will be more than likely a 4th generation antigen/antibody duo test or a 3rd generation antibody test if it was specifically for HIV, you will have to ask them if you want to know which type it was.
