Questions about potential HIV/HCV exposure.

I was working out at my local gym a couple of days ago, and after working out I went into the locker room and took a shower. After my shower I went over the sink to brush my teeth. As I put my hand down on the counter I felt a little pinch and realized that I had my just set my hand down on the counter and my hand had just been cut a little by a razor head someone had left on the counter. The cut did not bleed it just pealed some skin off and left really raw skin. Should I be concerned about a potential HIV or Hepatitis C exposure? and if so when is the earliest I can get a PCR test for both? thanks!

No dont worry about hep C, its all healthy paranoya!

1-i doubt the razor had blood init, even if i did, it may have dried etc..
2-your cut as you said was not deep and no blood was seen.
3.to contract hep c - there must be open wound and blood-to-blood contact.

If your really worried go to your GUM clinic, or GP and they will tell you what ive said.
Or simply just get an antibody test.

No point/no need for PCR testing.

No one has been identified as infected with HIV due to contact with an environmental surface. Additionally, HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions, therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

You need to take your HCV questions to the Hepatitis forum.
