Rapid tests

Dear doctor

HIV rapid test by icare tested positive within a minute. I bought the kit online and i had traces of KY jelly on my hand when i conducted the test. Is is possible that the test showed a false positive? Another thing i might add is that an advisory was issued against the website that sells the test that the tests are not CE approved and might be illegal. My main question is that can a rapid test be relied upon? And what are the factors that could result in a false positive. I might add that i had a lung infection an year back(pleurisy) which is caused by viral.

Go to a clinic to get tested instead of using questionable tests.  You cannot determine anything accurate from the kind of test you describe.

Yes it can be, but from all you are saying I would not trust that test.
See a Dr for a real test.
What was your risk?
