Risk?

Hello all,

My friend was having flu-like symptoms. He went to the doctor and had an STI panel done, which came back as negative on all possible STIs. The doctor told him he had the flu. This was two weeks ago.

Exactly one week ago, my friend and I had unprotected anal sex (for the first time). I was receptive. Obviously, I know there is risk involved, however, I wasn't sure about the logistics of the diagnosis, his symptoms, and his ability to be contagious. Can anyone shed light on this? Thank you.

The only test that can give a conclusive negative test result is your 3 month post exposure test.

Unprotected anal sex is a risk for hiv transmission. Testing is needed on order to ba aware of your status. You can test 4 weeks after the initial exposure with a 4th generation test and then confirm the negative result for extra insurance and for the peace of your mind 3 months after the initial exposure. Till then please try to keep calm
