Test result

I came on here a few days ago with my concerns about being infected with HIV.

I was told by lizzie lou & teak ( did I forget anyone else?) that I was never in at risk for HIV . and that I didn't need to be tested.

Although I did  at that time believe this- my anxiety kept gnawing away at me. In just a few days I went from feeling quite good about life to crying, sick, no sleep no eating.

So on my birthday- December 15- yesterday- I gave myself the best gift ever.
I went to get tested- got a rapid blood test-

After almost 9 years since my 'exposure' I am
NEGATIVE.

Thank you for this site & the support you gave me.
I had to get this test to hear it myself in person & to see NEGATIVE stamped in huge letters on my slip.

thank you again

:)

I waited almost a decade because up until a few days ago it never entered my mind that I had been at risk- ever.

It wan't until I started surfing the web a few days ago- started reading/skimming various stories about this & that. just to pass time.

I clicked on a story about HIV/AIDS. I skimmed it then something caught my eye. What I read - which turned out to be crap!- led me to believe that all this time I could be living with HIV.

I freaked then stated scouring the internet for everything I could find about this topic. This is how I found 'MedHelp' which turned out to be the best thing ever,

Not only because of the advise I received but because after reading endless hours through the forum- I learned a lot that I never knew before. I felt like I was taking a college crash course in Health regarding HIV.

I also learned that there is a lot of misconceptions out there about HIV -- A LOT!

So this is what led me to be tested- just to be DONE with it.

You waited nearly a decade to test? Why?You could have tested at 3 Months post-exposure and it would have been conclusive if you had a genuine risk which you did not.Anyway,Happy birthday and all the best.
