Testing/exposure

During protected vaginal intercourse my condom broke during rough doggy style sex with a csw. I was really drunk and made a terrible choice. I fear I might regret it. I've gotten tested a few times. I had a rna test between 7-10 days past exposure. I'm not sure when. Than I had another test at week 4. This was at the hospital with another rna. It was a pooled rna with the elisa test. It came back negative. At week 6 I took a rapid hiv test and also on day 53. Both came back negative. I'm afraid I'm starting to obsess over HIV. I have a girlfriend I told her what happened and I have NOT had sex with her since the incident. Even after I ****** up she still stayed with me if I promised to. Never do it again and I wont! I feel so bad about this. I just want to make sure that she is safe. She's pregnant and I don't want to hurt my family. What does my test say about my status. Has anyone never seen false positive rna test? Are my rapid test at 53 days reliable?

Ok I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend. I was thinking that my test were conclusive enough but i started panicking. Given my results should I tell her to take PEP or is that uneccessary

Based on your testing the likelihood that you have hiv is very slim.
However, I'm not a doctor so I go by the CDCs 12 week window for a conclusive result.
To take or not take pep is a serious medical decision that requires a qualified Dr to make in this scenario.
My guess is no, but call your doctor and ask him.

The pain in my neck seems to be subsiding and I haven't had a fever or anything so I refrained from the emergency room for now. But as to my previous question you stated that if I had experienced ARS that my test would have been positive correct? So would you consider my test conclusive enough to rule out hiv?

Thank you. I know it hasn't been 12 weeks but given my results with the negative the test with the eia ab and the rapid test at almost 8 weeks is it ok to rule out hiv infection?

ARS does NOT last that long, and if you had been experiencing ARS all this time, your test would have been positive.

Your symptom is not one of HIV; however, I do urge you to seek medical attention as pain in the base of your skull and pain in moving your head can be a symptom of meningitis - and that can get serious very quickly.

Because this is an American site we have to go off CDC guidelines so they say that 12 weeks is conclusive however I can garuntee you Taft you are negative and can live on with your life!!!

Thank you I noticed that someone was removed. I new that the I hope so comment wasn't from you. Just the negative and positive comment caught me off guard. It's cool Tomoose. I'm usually not like this just my anxiety is anything but normal at this point. Thank you. So I had 2 RNA pcr test? If those test look for the virus why aren't they conclusive? I took them at 8 days and 26 days I believe

I 100% agree with iommi you can't second guess the advise or credibility of a doctor. You've had 2 negatives and I 100% GARUNTEE YOU TAHT YOU'LL BE NEGATIVE

Again I appologise for the confusion earlier I only made the original comment in which I accidentaly said positive, this was a mistake. I was not the user that said "I hope so".

All information I give out on this forum is from the doctors that used to be here at med help so what I say I say with confidence however this time I made a mistake and for that I'm aorry

I can't offer more on the rna test other than relying on the hospitals expertise and you had 2 negatives.
This helps support the negative rapid test which are among the best out there in sensitivity at detecting antibodies. 95% will test positive by 6 weeks. This is an excellent indicator of your true status.
Also "most" csw do not have hiv. "If" see does, the transmission female to male is not great. Sorry I don't have the exact percentage available.
You have way more reason to expect a negative at 12 weeks then a positive. Your 7 week test is very unlikely to change. In fact the Drs who used to post here have not seen an 8 week negative turn positive.
