I had a possible exposure about 2 months ago. I am a healthy male age 28 and I had a HIV 1/2 4th generation antibody/antigen with reflex at 7 weeks post exposure which came back negative.
Is this test conclusive? Or should I have a follow up at 3 months? I know the body can take some time to form antibodies
Oral is not a risk for HIV, so the test was a waste of your time. HIV is inactivated instantly in air or in saliva, so it is effectively dead.
No reason to test again either.
The CDC is very conservative when it comes to listing risks, and they list risks that are only theoretical. NO ONE has ever contracted HIV from receiving oral sex, and you won't be the first.
Don't waste another test. You didn't have a risk, and in any event, that test is conclusive at 28 days (and beyond) any event.
