Thrush question???

I performed unprotected oral sex on a girl almost 2 weeks ago and 8 days later I developed the white coating in my mouth. She did have a yeast infection too that I was not aware of until later. I went to the doctor and as soon as he saw my tounge he asked me if i was involed with someone sexually recently, to which I responded yes. He gave me a shot, anti biotic pills, and some special mouthwash and said it should clear up.

I am really freaked out about this since I looked on the internet and it says thrush can be a sign of HIV. The last time I was tested was a year ago. My anxiety is kicking in really bad and I havent been able to eat or function properly all week, which is making me feel worse, plus I read that stress and bad nutrition can cause thrush as well and right now I am extremely stressed and have not been eating at all really. I felt fine before all of this started happening. Any advice would be helpful.

My tounge is ugly right now and I just want it to go away. This entire episode is just really scaring the **** out of me. I have bad anxiety and some hypochondria and this episode really takes the cake. I have never been so scared.

Did your doctor do a microscopic examination of tissue from a lesion to confirm it is thrush (oral candida)? Unless you have it confirmed it may not be thrush at all. It's not that easy to confirm visually. All persons have oral candida to a degree but which is managed by other microrganisms in the mouth. If one has used antibiotic recently that can wipe out the good microganisms that controls thrush and you get an outbreak in that manner.

Having a white tongue off and on is normal. You can usually brush it off with a tooth brush. If it were thrush, you can brush it off and it usually bleeds. Having thrush as long as you have stated would have went to your esophagus and you would be in serious pain when drinking, eating or swallowing.
