Vomit

All I want is a real answer. Can vomit transmit hiv or not? Some sites say yes, and others say no way. If vomit touched my hand, and then a few minutes later I got a cut in the same spot, without washing my hand yet, am I at risk? Im so sick of thinking about this. Has anyone ever gotten hiv from vomit?

I dont, but let me try to answer your question anyways.  Magic Johnson.  Magic Johnson is an HIV + man who is married to an HIV - woman.  Magic Johnson, like all of us is subject to upset stomachs, the flu, coughing, sneezing, get small cuts, scrapes, bruises, and vomitting, ect.  In 16+ years since he came out and stated his HIV status, his wife is still negative, and will be for the rest of her life.  HIV is a very difficult virus to catch, aside from unprotected sex and hyperdermic needle sharing, your chances of contracting the virus are miniscule. If you still have doubts, pay the $15 and go on the doctor's forums and have them give you an answer.

Infectious Fluids - HIV can be transmitted from an infected person to another through:

Blood
Semen (including pre-seminal fluid)
Vaginal secretions
Breast milk
Non-Infectious Fluids

Saliva is NOT considered to be infectious. The only time saliva would pose a risk would be if it had blood present in it. There are no documented cases of HIV transmission through saliva. A protein in the mouth attaches itself to the surface of blood cells and blocks infection by HIV appears to be present in the mucous membrane in the mouth at a level sufficient to reduce the concentration of HIV in saliva to non-infectious levels.
Urine and Tears are NOT considered infectious. While HIV has been found in urine and tears, it is not concentrated in an amount sufficient for transmission.
Sweat, Feces, Vomit are NOT considered infectious. HIV has never been found in these materials. The only possible risk would be if blood were present.

Some websites are full of bs other websites are conservative and give theoretical risks, as well as actual risks, a theoretical risk, is in theory, doesnt mean it ever has or ever will happen.  I dont think in 25 years of this disease has someone contracted it through vomit lol.

Go search through the expert forum where the docs are. HIV does not live in stomach acids.

Then why do many websites talk about how health care workers need to be carful so that vomit, feces, etc do not splash in eyes/cuts.

Just wondering where you're getting your information from.
