Was I at risk ?

Hi, folks.
I have posted my question time ago, but because I didn't get any clear answer I am posting it againt.
In September I touched a syringe by an accident. I didn't touch the needle, but just the outside of the syringe. I am worried, cause I had some small cuts on my finger (not a fresh cuts, may be 2-3 days old). I have no idea who used that syringe and how long before I touched it it was used.
Was I at risk for hiv and should I test?
Thanks in advance.

come on, there is no risk...this site is for people with real concerns, symptoms and risks.  you touched a syringe...I bet you touch a gas pump when you pump your gas too.  you would know it if you have a cut and you didn't get stuck by the needle.  do not lose a second of sleep over this...trust me

Thanks, Teak, I appriciate your prompt response.

I am concerned, because 6 weeks after this accident I experienced dry cough which lasted for about 5-6 days. It was in the early November, so it was not the flu season. Why do you think I was not at risk - because the virus can not survive for a long outside of the body or simply because in order to get infected you need to ***** your finger on the needle?
Thanks.
