When i can rely on the cmia test results?

I had a negative HIV (CMIA) test after 8 weeks of possible infection is it accurate or I should repeat it after 3 and 6 months?

if the result paper says Ab & Ag then it tests for both of it..
and the drugs u mentioned dont interfere with testing or the time for antibodies to appear

Dear All, I just want to know is the MEIA test is searching for Ab only or Ag & Ab as written in the results paper

Nothing is conclusive before 3 months. Antibody test at 3 months. But as you were told you did not have a risk to begin with.

Today (10 weeks after the possible infection) I did another test and it was negative.
they wrote HIV Ag/Ab by MEIA. test i am wondering is it a fourth generation test which looks for both the Ag & Ab like CMIA and what is the difference between them and is it conclusive after 10 weeks or not

Hi kyoussef,

Rubbing your penis on the vagina (frottage), and sex with condom are both "safe sex" and did not put you at risk for hiv.

You never needed to test for that activity, and you won't need anymore further tests following the one you had. Your negative test at 8 weeks practically told you you didn't have hiv from the no risk incident.

You don't have hiv!

May God bless

The US also uses CMIA testing, ARCHITECT HIV Ag/Ab Combo assay. As with all HIV tests they are conclusive at  3 months post exposure.

You never needed testing - You do not have HIV you can trust your results 100% if that was your only exposure.

You are fine

It doesnt matter what it says, a three month test is conclusive.  but I can almost guarantee your 6 week test will not change. Test at 3 months and put it behind you.

What was your risk?

Thanks for your support

the tests used in USA is Antibodies test while the CMIA is combines Ab/Ag test and many sites say that the P24 (Ag) protien is detected after 6 weeks????

The test is just as accurate as the antibody test, and may pick up the infection at an earlier time -- meaning it may detect HIV infection sooner than a standard HIV antibody test, but you will still need to wait the 3 months due to the CDC guidlines.  I would consider an 8 week test not to change so you are almost home free. Test again in 4 weeks and put your fears away.
