Do not pull up and post to old threads.
Hi Rafiq .... What was your final diagnosis man?
Hi Teak .... Just stumbled upon this old post while anxiously waiting for my 90 day ELISA. I had exposure in Middle East country and I tested using tridot post 90 days in india, which is negative.
But after going throu the tri dot kit manufacturer's website, it clearly says that the tri dot only detects subtype C and not other subtypes on hiv1. I could not find a conclusive end to the above discussion and this the question.
Please help.
You can obtain your conclusive test result 3 months post exposure if you have had unprotected penetrative anal or vagina sex.
i had contac twith sex worker on 10of feb2011 &i have checked blood for tri dot on 11 april after 60 days & came negative fot hiv 1& 2 so shuld i coinfirm that i am hiv negative.
Why does any of this even matter to you. You have had 2 people go over and over that your test is conclusive. You are trying to find a way that it was not conclusive which is anxiety. Try posting in the anxiety community for your real issue. And that issue is accepting the test result.
Thanks teak, hats of you..
it means that if antibiody is present in the body for hiv 1 subtype ( A to I) the tri dot card will indicate two dots or else only 1 dot.
in that url i have copied why it is stressed that (Among HIV-1 antibodies, the TriDot test detects HIV-1 subtype C (In first line) ) this only make me bit confusion...
This will be my last post, Mr.Teak please clear for my knowledge.
Thank you
Locations Used
Among HIV-1 antibodies, the TriDot test detects HIV-1 subtype C, the world's most common subtype and most common subtype in India, Africa, and China, and HIV-1 subtype O, which traces back to West Central Africa. For this reason, the TriDot test is most common in India and Africa, and may not detect other HIV-1 subtypes that are found in other parts of the world. A positive TriDot test should always be followed up with a more sensitive test done in a laboratory, and should be considered a preliminary screening test as opposed to a final answer.
Dear Teak, can you explain me this sentence. i am unable to understand even if i read 1000 times.
Thanks Mr.Teak.
Tri Dot is an HIV 1/2 test had you read the URL that you linked you would have read it. You are conclusively NEGATIVE.
Dear Teak,
http://www.ehow.com/about_5130887_tridot-hiv-screening-test-procedures.html
The link says that tridot detect only hiv 1 subtype c, not other sub types. Please provide me correct information.
Thanks
3 months test is conclusive anywhere in the world.
final question Mr.Teak,
Whether it matters if we do sex any where in the world and test sum where for conclusive result.
Thanks for your quick reply
It includes all subtypes including C. You are conclusively negative.
Thanks Mr.teak
i had a test after 6 months by tridot method and was negative.i was bit confused that tridot detect only hiv 1(c sub type) not other subtype because i had sex in UAE and checked in india for my conclusive result.
Where is hiv 1 & 2 found?
whether all hiv 1 & 2 Abs test look for all subtypes ( i mean both elisa/eia & Rapid test), if yes, then one test is enough after windows period.
Please clear my doubt Mr.Teak
Yes it is an ELISA test. Yes it detects all subtypes to HIV 1 and detects HIV2. HIV2 does not have subtypes.
sensitivity of at least 99.48% and specificity of at least 99.7%
Dear Teak,
Whether tridot method is a Elisa or some other method? whether it is good for diagonising all sub types of hiv ! & 2.
Thanks
certain tests only detects hiv1 or 2..but TriDot detects both
clear my 7th point.
Thanks
TriDot test detects for Hiv 1&2..includes all subtypes..its sufficient..
Dear Teak,
Please clear my above doubt.
but in one article i read that tridot is especially made to find out the sub group c for indians not the whole sub group of hiv1?
is one test enough for me to know my hiv status by tridot method after 6 months.
can you elaborate me the 7th point.
Thanks
1- its conclusive at 3 months
2- its a rapid spot test
3-it detects all subtypes including subtype c which is prevalent in india
6-yes
7-not all depends on the kit used
8-yes
Testing Procedure
•The procedure of having a TriDot test done is very simple. A blood or serum sample is taken, which can be as small as a few drops of blood, and the sample is combined with a special solution and placed in the center of the TriDot card. After three minutes, one, two, or three dots will appear. A single dot indicates an HIV negative patient but a correctly functioning test. Two indicates either HIV-1 or HIV-2 antibodies, and three dots indicates the presence of antibodies for HIV-1 and HIV-2.
