i received a oral sex from a road side sex worker before 60 days from this post, on 44th day i got elisa test at ranbaxy negetive,bt i afraid regarding seroconversion period,i cant sleep as well n take food,i feel pinning inside in my whole body is this a HIV m dying...how much should i confident after my 44 day test,do i need another test..I am not able to listen my next result.....PLS HELP ME SIR,,M DYING

I came back non-reactive on MEIA AG/AB combo test with p24 after 12 weeks (update).It will help all my frnds,which are feeling anixety from ORAL SEX here on this web site.No need to worry from ORAL SEX. But for my all frnds on this community..PLS....PLS...PLS..PLAY SAFE SEX ;)..Anixety is more dengerous than HIV.

After 2.11months i got sleep n had a good dinner..i was wid my wife n my kids,,,i was in hell from 2.11 months..in evening my bro took my blood sample n rushed to RANBAXY labrotary..after half an hour i came to know m ok...my two ELISA test are negetive...(one at 44 day and second 71 day) now i can think about my LIFE..which was in a dark lonely room,,I think God gave me this chance..i know i was at low risk..but who knows a lil amount of blood or a 2 minute enjoy can change a life forever,,some people were saying i got my mind out of balance..bt i was not,,i was in depression,,no body was with me to share my feelings..only med help was the only way through i was living with lil bit hopes..n now i wanna to say one thing again ..Your words were really helpfull for me..LOADSSS OF THXXX to be with me on DePreSSed :(( part of my Life Ever..

PCR tests are not FDA approved diagnostic tests. PEROID. Take your BS to another fourm.
I THINK the % of false POS is about 10%. DON'T hold me to that....but even a LOW %...it just isn't worth it, IMO...when an antibody test can yield accurate results, and is approved for diagnosis.
A PCR DNA test can be used as a diagnostic test, although the CDC does not recommend it (mainly because of early research that indicate high false positives). Plus its extremely expensive. A PCR RNA test, on the other hand is what you are referring to as a viral load test and will give you the actual number of copies of the virus. This is also sometimes used as a diagnostic test during early presentation of primary infection (>7 day window).

Well we can see your ton of studying hasn't taught you a thing. A PCR test is not a diagnostic test. When used for VL it's a montoring test, not a diagnostic test.

The chances of you contracting HIV through oral sex is extremely low. I have only come across one (definitively) documented case . . . and I've researched the subject a ton. Most people notice swollen lymph nodes in the throat coincided with the other symptoms of ARS: (fever, diarreah, nausea, headache, chills, etc). It would be extremely unlikely that you would develop these symptoms after 6 weeks.
Listen, what you need to do is realize you have a mental problem (severe anxiety, depression) and at the root cause of the mental problem is something else. Maybe you have a lot of guilt for what you did? Telling you to stop worrying because you dont have a risk won't fix anything. Resolving your underlying issue will. You are okay, I am sure of it.

Say, how high are false positive rates with the PCR test? Just wondering if you have any statistics on that... I mean something NOT from the 90's.

You will need to acknowledge the facts about HIV and reconcile with these facts.

Recommending the someone as anxious as this poster take a PCR test is irresponsible. Not only is it not an approved diagnostic test, but also...it has a significant rate of false POS results. I cannot imagine anything worse than someone in complete turmoil receiving a false pos test result!

You can fester with your unwarranted worries all you like. The problem with you is your guilt of cheating not HIV. You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV. It's time for you to move on.
