hiv symptoms n testing

febuary 2012,I had unprotected sex 3ce with a man I don't know his status,few weeks later I started having diarrhoea,mild fever and headache. 14wks post exposure I did 3 different antibody test and it all came back negative.I'm still worried cause the fever is yet to go,I treated for amoebiasis after a stool mcs and d diarrhoea stopped. Please wat do I do?

It means you are HIV negative--stop worrying.

Please I'm really sorry I forgot the first faint line result followed by 4 negative ones. Please does that mean anything?

I'm still thinking about HIV cos I forgot to mention,the first antibody test I did showed a very faint line so I decided to test with 3 differnt antibody test 3days after and it all came back negative. Thanks guys ur response is really encouraging.

very strange,you said by yourself you had  amoebiasis so you found the cause of fever and diarrhea,so why you are still thinking about HIV despite conclusive test.

as i said above...your tests are CONCLUSIVE.

unless you are on chemotherapy, on anti-rejection drugs following an organ transplant, or a chronic - longterm iv drug user...then 3 months post exposure is conclusive.

Thanks so much Lizzie,I've been worried sick.do I need to repeat the test?cos I hear some experts say it could take up to 6months for the antibodies to form.

your tests were CONCLUSIVE...proving...WITHOUT A DOUBT...that you don't have hiv.  they also prove that whatever illness you are experiencing is NOT related to hiv.

continue to work with your dr to find the cause...it's not a hiv concern.
