Dr. Can you please contribute? I am well aware there is a significant risk but am looking for information that could potentially ease my fears whilst I wait to get conclusive test results..
This forum doesn't do statistics. I'll make an exception this time.
HAD YOU USED A CONDOM CORRECTLY AND CONSISTENTLY YOU WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A RISK.
You were given factual information.
1. You put YOURSELF at risk
2. The only way to know your status is by testing.
3. To obtain a conclusive test result, you have to test 3 months post exposure.
You are going to be waiting a long time if you want people to GUESS.
empathy..? for 6 weeks i will not know. Am looking for an answer similar to those provided by kind hearted, well educated doctors on this site (based on science and what is currently known about transmission). Still waiting..
HIV is a serious disease, you don't make or play the odds or estimation games with it. The only why to know your status is by testing.
Yes, thx teak. I'm aware i've put myself at risk and will get a test in 6 weeks and again in 3 months. I've asked the question to hopefully ease my anxiety. There are many threads here indicating that female to male, vaginal carries relatively low risk. Factors increasing my anxiety are her new involvement in sex work (if she'd recently caught HIV/something else - viral load), that i'm uncircumcised and that I came inside. What I'm after is a realistic estimation of my risk based on the information i've provided. Can you help?
HIV doesn't have any ethnicity bias. You put yourself at risk by having unprotected sex. You can receive your conclusive test three months post exposure. Excessive alcohol and sex don't mix. Sex lasts a matter of minutes and HIV lasts a life time, use condoms correctly and consistently.
