possibility of hiv?

I'm getting tested in a couple of weeks (when I'm home for Thanksgiving) because the stress is just too much. Stupid, stupid me. I have had unprotected sex with three guys. The first one told me he had been tested a year previously when he had surgery for testicular cancer (it was rare because he was so young) but i know for obvious reasons that he was telling the truth. Anyway, he said he had only had unprotected sex with one other girl since then. i asked him to get tested, and he did. He told me he had herpes II. I haven't had an outbreak and i have tested negative for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and hsv as a part of my regular pap smear.  i had sex with that guy...probably three times. the second guy is a lot older, normally uses a condom, and is pretty picky about the girls he sleeps with. i've had sex with him probably 5 times. i doubt he has hiv. the third guy goes to my college and it was only once. i also doubt he has hiv, but one never knows.

none of these guys are IV drug users (not so sure about the first guy's past...but, he didn't have any scars or anything), it was vaginal sex, and they never ejaculated inside of me. clearly, it was unwise. but, do i have a really high risk? i am on the verge of a nervous breakdown here.

Glad to hear your going to get tested.  This is the only way to know in confidence, symptoms alone will not give you your diagnosis.

Let me know how you get on.

Best wishes

Thanks, I'm definitely going to get tested. I was a little worried because the lymph node in my neck swelled up, but now I'm starting to think it's tonsillitis. because, it's only the lymph node on the right side of my neck, my throat on the right side on my tonsils, my right ear, and my right jaw.

A test at 3 months post exposure is the only way to know.

try and use condoms in future.  That being said, yes the risk is low - but the fact is you still are at risk because you do not know the HIV status of these people.

The majority of people infected with HIV do not know they are infected so thats how it spreads.

I'm confident you'll be ok, just put it down to experience and test at 3 months and use protection in future.

Best wishes

Hi. Its hard to give anyone a definitive answer of risk, and it also varies dependant on where you live (and the HIV rates there) etc.

What I would say is that the odds are likely to be in your favour. Male to female transmission of HIV occurs only 1 in 2000 times when the male is known to have HIV. So think of the chances of any of them having HIV, then the chances of it being submitted, and you should feel a bit better, although I know its hard.

You are doing the right thing in being tested and I wish you ever success.
