quick barber

Hi all,

I visited today a local barber. During the haircut he took a folding knife to shave some hairs away from my neck and side of my face. He did not clean this knife and told me that he had shaved 25 customers before that day with it.
I am now afraid since i have some tiny open wounds that blood from previous customers could have got on me, because of this non cleaning. Am I at risk for HIV?

I am very scared!

HIV IS NOT transmitted through environmental surfaces or inanimate objects.  once exposed to air, hiv becomes inactive and unable to infect.

hiv is transmitted through...
unprotected vaginal / anal intercourse
sharing iv drug works
mother to child

now...if and when you have one of the above exposures...THEN you have put yourself at risk.

Hi everything I wrote is true. The barber has it to busy to clean everything..
So I hope I had no risk, since I had those tiny cuts and wounds (from previous personal shaving)?

Thanks

The only way you can get infected at a barber shop is if you have unprotected sex or share needles with the barber or the customers. Somehow I find some of the particulars of your story a little hard to believe, but even if they were true you could not catch HIV from being shaved. The only way that transmission could possibly occur with a sharp instrument would be an accident in a healthcare setting where there are much larger quantities of fresh blood involved and much deeper penetration of the instrument into tissue (and even these don't always result in transmission). Nobody has ever caught HIV from being shaved in a barber shop.

I have also reviewed your posting history. You clearly are unusually fixated on HIV and it is also clear that you already knew what the answer was going to be since the established risks for HIV have already been explained to you in another thread. I think your best bet at this point would be to seek a mental health professional to help you understand why you are so obsessed with catching HIV from situations that do not involve unprotected sex or sharing needles.
