eveTo what extent do condoms prevent HIV transmission?

1. If the condom does not fail, what is the likelihood that the male using the condom will become infacted with the HIV virus from an HIV positive woman? And... Where is the research (link please) that this is based on?

2. Is it possible to get HIV from a hand job if the woman giving you the hand job is HIV positive and has a cut on her hand?

Your question has already been answered. Condoms are effective at preventing HIV infection if used correctly every time you have anal or vaginal sex. Every major health authority in the world accepts and promotes the use of condoms in the global fight against HIV\AIDS.

I concur 100% with teak. Condoms that are used correctly and don't fail during intercourse are 100% effective and preventing HIV infection.

what is highly effective. that is 'relative' wording.

is it 10000 to 1. 5000 to 1. 10000000 to 1. etc

as for question #2, is there a reason why this is not a potential form of transmission?

thx

1. Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in
preventing transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In addition, correct
and consistent use of latex condoms can reduce the risk of other sexually
transmitted diseases (STDs), including discharge and genital ulcer diseases.
While the effect of condoms in preventing human papilloma virus (HPV) infection
is unknown, condom use has been associated with a lower rate of cervical
cancer, an HPV-associated disease. Laboratory studies have demonstrated that latex condoms provide an essentially impermeable barrier to particles the size of STD pathogens. "Which also includes polyurethane condoms."
2. NO.
