hiv tests

Ok! I have some question regarding hiv tests.

I would like to know which test/s produces a NON-REACTIVE or REACTIVE result and which test/s produces a decimal value to determine a negative or positive result eg:(0.04 being negative and 1.0 or higher being positive)?

I'm mostly concerned with the one that produces a decimal value. I did a test which came back negative after 16 weeks post risk. But I was not given any figures. I was only told to have my partner come in and get tested. I'm not sure if that was a procedural thing or if there was something on the test that made them told me that. Like maybe a value close to 1.0 eg: 0.75. I had asked how accurate was the test and was told that its 99% accurate. The paper with the result also had a next test due date on it. But I have been doing testing since 2007 and they always noticed a next test due date on them. Is that a procedure as well?

If the value was close to the 1.0 mark, would I be told with emphasis to re-test? An answer would be greatly appreciated.

All you need to concern yourself with is that you took the test 3 months post exposure and that the index value was less than 1.

It doesn't matter if the decimal value is close to 1.0,what matters is a conclusive negative result & you already have one--you don't have HIV--move on.
