Move on this is an assessment forum.
do they also know the types of hiv its groups and its subtypes one new subtype comes and they are not able to detect that because they dont know that type.
Try to understand what you read, "closely relating to gorilla simian immunodeficiency virus." No they do know the origions of HIV.
also, the most common one im assuming is group M? do we know the origins of that one?
Interesting.. read teak. How would one get an siv from a gorilla?
Group O appears to be restricted to west-central Africa and group N - a strain discovered in 1998 in Cameroon - is extremely rare. In 2009 a new strain closely relating to gorilla simian immunodeficiency virus was discovered in a Cameroonian woman. It was designated HIV-1 group P.1 More than 90% of HIV-1 infections belong to HIV-1 group M. EIA tests which can detect either one or both types of HIV have been available for a number of years.
thanks you're right. But could give me a test other than the Abbott test that states their test detects all groups thanks!
You are confused. M,N,O,P are groups not subtypes.
