How big are my chances for HIV?

Three days ago I had unprotected vaginal sex with a man with an unknown status.

He was a complete stranger but I was so drunk I quite honestly don't even remember everything we did. All I know is that he did not use a condom and that he presumably ejaculated inside me. I panicked when I got up the next morning and just left his apartment so we are not in contact anymore, but I am just wondering what my statistical chances are for being infected with HIV by this one time encounter?

The man was black but spoke Spanish so I doubt he is from Sub Saharan Africa, but I can't be sure. He was nicely built/seemed clean and orderly and I also saw a picture of a little child on his cellphone the next morning: apparently his son. I don't know why but this in hindsight gave me some strange comfort because I can't imagine his son being infected but maybe that's just me grasping for straws..

So what I am wondering is - statistically how likely is it that I am infected with HIV if I've had a one-time sexual encounter with a black man of unknown status?

I will of course get tested but seeing as the intercourse occured only three days ago I obviously have to wait :( I am very afraid and would like to get professional answers....thank you

the odds are low, but as you had a risk, you should test with a 4th generation combo test at 28 days is conclusive. all the best.

yes, a 4th generation combo (dual antigen/ antibody) test will give accurate results. in the meantime, try not to worry too much about it - chances are he was not infected - but do get tested.

Thank you for your answer! But, just to make sure I understand (I'm not from the US but from Norway), can I get that test 28 days after the intercourse?
