4 years. antibodies present?

I had a risky sexual episode 4 years ago, I took a rapid test (determine Abbott) at a laboratory. The result was non reactive to HIV antibodies to date. (negative)
Does a person infected with HIV ever stop having antibodies?
Would I still have antibodies even 4 years after exposure?
I've read articles that say that false negatives can happen to people who are on the later-stages of AIDS. I dont think that would be my case, since I have been relatively healthy this past year, except for a bacterial vaginosis I havent managed to get rid of.
