how accurate is the HIV test after 6 months

I recently had unprotected sex with my gf we are both 17. He told me he used to shoot up heroin and liquid morphine. We broke up about 6 months ago and I found out he was cheating on me. So I just got tested for HIV at 6 months and it was negative. I made a stupid mistake by being with him but now this girl that I have loved for 3 years is coming to see me, long story but anyways we dated for a while and lost our virginity together and we still love each other. I want to have unprotected sex with him and he knows the situation, so how accurate is the HIV test after 6 months?

An HIV test is conclusive at 3 months let alone 6.

Your test at 6 months after your last exposure is conclusive. Also do get your partner who you are going to have unprotected sex with tested. Virgins can have HIV if they are born with it. Use of condoms is still advisable. Take care.
