Advice needed on exposure

49 days ago as of now, I had protected vaginal intercourse with 3 seperate asian masseuses and one unprotected instance of oral intercourse lasting no longer than approximately 5-10 minutes in a night out with friends in south-east asia. Their HIV status is all unknown. 5 days subsequent to this exposure, i went and got a STD test including blood, swabs etc that tested negative to everything except for ureaplasma urealyticum. My sexual history before this episode has been with only one girl.

Approximately 40 days after exposure, i developed a flu including headache, seemingly feverish (but i did not have my temperature taken), runny nose sore throat and copious amounts of thick phlegm.

Yesterday at 48 days, i went and reperformed the anti-hiv test of which i am waiting for the result.

So my questions are:

1.) How effective will this test be in confirming diagnosis and

2.) How serious is my risk of infection with HIV?

3.) Are there any further steps i should take as of now.

Thanks for the help/answers.

There is nothing more to add except that you continue to use latex or poly condoms with plenty of lube and you will continue to protect yourself from HIV and most STDs.

The activities you describe carry no risk of HIV transmission because you successfully used latex barriers for the intercourse.  Oral sex, even unprotected, is zero risk for transmission of HIV.

HIV is transmitted by the following:

1. Unprotected vaginal intercourse
2. Unprotected anal intercourse
3. IV drug works sharing
4. Mother-to-child

If your activities ever fall under any of those categories, an HIV antibody test at 12 weeks would be conclusive.

I forgot to mention 21 days after possible infection, i happened to take a health checkup which included a haematology workout which stated my lymphocyte count to be at 31.3% falling within the 15-41% reference range and my wbc count at 7.1 out of the 4.0-10.0X10^9/l reference range.
