Is this test unnessecary?

Okay here's the deal. I used IV drugs at the end of a 2 year addiction for a period of about 4 months before getting clean and going to rehab. During that time, I shared "works" with 2 people, both who lived in the town I live in and had known for about a year. I do not know of their exposure.

I went to rehab and got tested the first week, so it was about 20-25 days since last exposure.

I was again tested at another facility about 2 months after exposure.

After both tests, I was never informed of my results. I asked for them and people told me "no news is good news".

So now, almost 11 months after last exposure - I made an appointment at a clinic to get a test done. In the past two weeks I've been having panic attacks because I never got my results back. The idea that I could have HIV is freaking me out, it is literally to the point where I can't think of anything else and I'm taking this test to put my mind at ease.

Do you guys think I will be ok? All answers are appreciated.

You can test now for a conclusive result.  While I would love to share Emma's optimism and tell you everything will be fine, I don't think it's fair to not be 100% honest. NONE of us can tell you that it will be okay.  You had a significant risk, most likely if one of your past tests were pos, you would have been notified.  Why didn't you follow up and ask?

You also need to be tested for Hepatitis.  Be sure you are following up with a doctor who is aware of your history.

Congrats on getting clean!
