I had unprotected sex with some one from India (my bf at the time). After the 6 month window period I got tested for HIV 1 which came back negative. How prevalent is the HIV 2 strain in India and should I be tested for HIV 2 ? Thanks so much for your help.

I've been doing quite a bit of research on hiv 2 lately. I think you will find the following to be true:
1. The only place on earth that hiv2 is 'prevelant' is West Africa.
2. Recently there has been an increase in hiv 2 occurrence in India.
3. Most labs in the US offer an HIV 1 and 2 Antibody combo test. I personally have taken several.
